In 1740 at Rialto in the center of Venice, a certain Pietro de Pieri opened a tavern where the customers, exclusively fishermen, could taste a delicacy: mussel soup. Really soon this tavern became really famous, and baptized by the same fishermen as “Peoceto” that in the dialect of Venice means

 

 

 

“mussel” or mollusk .

The specialties attracted customers of every rank and little by little the old tavern turned into a hangout of gourmets, frequented by the nobility and the aristocratic of the city. Around the middle of the XVIII centenary the tavern was closed by order of a magistrate that was derided during a lunch

 

 

 

 

at the Peoceto. At his death though, the restaurant was reopened shouting “The Peoceto revives !” and from that day on the“Peoceto Risorto”, (revived Peoceto) remained the destination of all tourists coming from every part of the globe, on visit to Venice.The environment is characterized by the atmosphere and a stile of furniture in wood that remembers the inside of an ancient galleon, that knows how to give a warm welcome.Guarantees up to 45 internal seats that are in a conditioned environment and in the fair season a dozen of external ones.
